Vancouver firm offers various packages for finding and applying for business finance.

The Vancouver-based firm Granted Consulting aims to support businesses of all sizes that lack the in-house capacity or expertise to source and apply for the right funding programs for their organizations. Granted Consulting aims to unite the hundreds of opportunities of free grants available with Western Canadian businesses that could benefit from them, since most of them currently go unused.

Granted Consulting aims to help companies bridge the gap between the time and effort needed to research and apply for grant funding by handling applications from beginning to end.

A company spokesperson had this to say about her company’s approach to assisting business owners and representatives locate and apply for the right funding package. “Because grants are not really covered in any great detail, if at all, at business schools, there are many companies to this day that consider them as an afterthought. This is a pity, because the right funding at the right time can really propel a company’s growth to the next level. Here at Granted Consulting, we have structured our systems to assist companies in understanding how much funding they are eligible for, and to simplify the process from initial research of the right funding channels through to final payment being received”.

The grants available, ranging from $5,000 to around $100,000, generally fall into one of three categories. Research and development grants assist companies to become more competitive, especially against international firms. The funding from R&D grants can be invested in a variety of projects including testing, building prototypes, and to provide the finance needed to bring products to market. The second category, business expansion grants, aim to facilitate the expansion of sales operations and growth-enabling activities including sales and marketing activities overseas in addition to applications for international product or standards certifications. Thirdly, grants for hiring and training enable companies to fill skills gaps or shortages through payment of recruitment and employment costs. These grants can include hiring for specific skilled jobs such as technical researchers or technicians, or for smaller businesses to put programs in place to develop the skills of their existing employees to achieve growth or stay competitive.

The spokesperson went on to add that “because the application process can be daunting and often overwhelming for many companies, especially smaller firms, a large number of firms miss out on free money that could boost their sales and the region’s economy. Even on the rare occasions companies do apply for funding, the applications are often rushed and late, meaning that key information and specific details get missed as a result. At Granted Consulting, we ensure visibility of the right grant options in a timely manner, and strategically assist companies end-to-end with the application process”.
