Creative Biolabs Offers Standard Neurological Disease Models for Worldwide Clients

August 26 17:20 2019

New York, US, August 26 2019 As a reliable biotech company, Creative Biolabs is dedicated to providing alternative neurological disease models for worldwide clients while upholding the highest ethical standards of animal care and welfare.

Structural, biochemical or electrical abnormalities in the brain, spinal cord or other nerves are typical symptoms of neurological disease. Owing to the psychological and physiological similarities to human, non-human primates (NHPs) are most common animal models for the research of human brain function and neurological diseases, which have shown a good effect on the treatment of different forms of affective disorders including tourette syndrome, major depression, and anxiety disorders are now being treated using deep-brain stimulation. Creative Biolabs offers NHPs models for neurological disease including Parkinson’s Disease (PD) Model, Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion (MCAO) Model, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Model, Cerebral Infarction Model, Cerebral Stroke Model.

Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion (MCAO) Model

The traditional middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) always results in sensory loss of the contralateral face and arm, contralateral neglect syndrome, aphasia, paralysis or weakness of the contralateral face and arm, etc. Creative Biolabs not only breaks the traditional limitations of MCAO models at Creative Biolabs using microneurosurgery technique by vessel pressure, operation through orbit, brain vessel embolism, vessel line-occluding, photochemistry method, and craniotomy, but also prepares a series of follow-up tests including physiological parameter, a standard neurological deficit score, MRI imaging:

  • A full set of physiological parameters: pH, pCO2, pO2, sO2, GLU, BP, BBT.
  • A standard neurological deficit score: conscious state, motor system, sensory system defects, skeletal muscle coordination.
  • MRI imaging: Both conventional MRI and MRI diffusion weighted imaging (imaging diffusion-weighted, DWI) are available for judging the state and calculating the relative infarct volume percentage.

Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Model

Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Model can be classified into compression, contusion, distraction, transection, dislocation and chemical models. Creative Biolabs can provide different kinds of SCI based on clients’ needs and multiple assessments including motor-evoked potential (MEP), somatosensory-evoked potential (SSEP), MR imaging, and monkey hindlimb score (MHS), etc. Skillful scientists at Creative Biolabs use compression devices to compress the cord to cause SCI at given force and duration and use contusion devices to inflict an acute, transient injury to the spinal cord. Distraction SCI devices are used to inflict graded injury by controlled stretching of the cord. Mechanical displacement of the vertebrae helps to generate dislocation-type SCI. Surgical transection of the cord is particularly useful in regenerative medicine. At last, select components of the secondary injury cascade can be replicated by chemically induced SCI.
